Kwara Jews
   In June 1999, then foreign minister Ariel Sharon was appointed to coordinate the overall Israeli activity for bringing about the speedy arrival of the approximately 3,500 Kwara Jews from Ethiopia to Israel. Immigrant (see ALIYA) Absorption Minister Yuli Edelstein was to head an interministerial team for coordinating absorption of the immigrants in Israel. Israel also decided to dispatch medical aid and food to the Jews in Kwara.
